Jamie Carragher sums up every Liverpool fan's verdict on Conor Bradley after Real Madrid

Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry were full of praise for Conor Bradley after his brilliant display against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Northern Irishman was handed his first start in the competition and nullified Kylian Mbappe with apparent ease, with his crunching challenge on the Frenchman during the first half one of the highlights of the night from a Liverpool perspective.

Bradley was taken off in the closing stages of the match after sustaining an apparent hamstring injury and Liverpool fans will hope the problem is not too serious after his brilliant display.

Analysing the match for CBS Sports, Carragher said: “Coming into this game, there’s been a lot of talk about Real Madrid looking to buy Liverpool’s right-back. But, I’m not sure if that player is called Trent Alexander-Arnold or Conor Bradley!"

Carragher's fellow pundit, Thierry Henry, waxed lyrical about Bradley's excellent showing — although he suggested Mbappe didn't give him as much to think about as many would have expected.

“That (tackle), for me, already did set the tone,” Henry said. “Boom! That’s it. You all know, when you go into someone like that at the beginning of the game, you’re going to struggle.

“We see him making that run every time, he fancied it. You could see, he fancied himself against Mbappe. Everything he did was spot on. We were waiting for Salah, we were waiting for Mbappe, but we saw Conor Bradley so fair play to him.”

Henry added: “Bradley was just outstanding. I think he didn’t have to do a lot defensively because Mbappe didn’t do a lot offensively, so it became very easy.

“But the positions he takes right now, what he can do and how he understands when he needs to make that run… The assist (for Alexis Mac Allister's opener) was not a Trent Alexander-Arnold assist, in all fairness, but still, he is where he is supposed to be.”

Slot was unable to provide injury updates on Bradley or Ibrahima Konate after the pair both sustained problems in the win over Madrid.

“They are still being assessed and it is so close after the game yesterday night," Slot said in a press conference on Thursday, "and I just came off the training pitch. So, I can’t tell you exactly where they are, so we have to wait and see see where they are this weekend and after that.”
