It’s been a big week for Arne Slot at Liverpool.
The Dutchman extended Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League at the weekend after a win against Southampton, while a win against Real Madrid on Wednesday was a huge result.
Slot has been praised for his incredible impact at Liverpool so far this season.
However, it’s not necessarily all been great news for Slot and Liverpool this week.
Mohamed Salah caused a stir with some comments about his new contract, meanwhile, Liverpool’s biggest rivals, Manchester City, made an announcement that will have huge implications.
Indeed, while Manchester City have been in poor form as of late, the Premier League champions did receive a boost recently.
Pep Guardiola has signed a new contract with City, and speaking on the Sky Sports Football Podcast, Arne Slot has now shared his thoughts on Guardiola signing a new deal.

Arne Slot reacts to Pep Guardiola new contract
Slot shared his verdict on Guardiola’s new deal.
Slot says that he admires Guardiola a lot and he’s happy that he’s still in the Premier League, but he’s not happy about the fact this will strengthen Manchester City.
“The era I watched a lot of football was when we first had Guardiola and Mourinho at Barcelona and Real Madrid. Afterwards we had Klopp and Guardiola, which brought the best out of both clubs.
“He is one of the best managers in the world, maybe the best manager in the world. It’s nice that he stays in England, it’s good for City, which is not something I like, but it’s a good thing for the English league that he’s here. The best players and the best managers should be here.”
Pep Guardiola’s record at Manchester City
Slot isn’t happy that Guardiola has signed a new deal, but, Slot himself did partly inspire this decision.
Indeed, TBR Football understands that Guardiola signed a new contract due to the rising competition within English football.
Guardiola wants to battle with Slot and Mikel Arteta for a little while longer in order to further establish his dominance in the Premier League.
City have been almost unstoppable in the Premier League in recent years.

However, after failing to win any of their last six matches in all competitions, cracks are beginning to show.
Guardiola’s new contract was supposed to give City a lift, but after two poor results this week, that new contract doesn’t seem to have buoyed City at all.
Worryingly, City’s next match is a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, and if the Reds can win that game, Arne Slot’s side will almost certainly be title favourites.
