Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a seismic offer for Alexander Isak at the end of the season.
Sources in Spain suggest the Catalans are targeting a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. With 22 goals from 19 games across all competitions this season, the Pole is far from done.
However, at 36, Father Time remains undefeated and Barca are looking towards the future. Sporting Lisbon sensation Viktor Gyokeres has been rumoured as a potential target - but they could move for his Isak teammate.
The Daily Mail reported last month that Toon chiefs have distanced themselves from Isak’s contract talks. On the eye, that news looked concerning for Newcastle fans, but the 25-year-old has four years remaining on his deal.
But any move for Isak would not come cheap - with Barcelona needing to stump up at least £100million. Recent transfer windows have been tight at the Camp Nou but La Liga increased their spending camp to £354million per season in September.
Newcastle - and Eddie Howe in particular - know they have one of Europe’s prized strikers. He told reporters last week: “(Isak) is building momentum into his season. He has scored some big goals of late for us and his general performances have continued to improve.

“He has gone away for Sweden and played really well and I'm delighted with how he has looked on international duty to continue that good form. Being a striker, having not been one myself, but from experience - it is all about confidence and how you feel.
“Alex has got undoubted qualities and I would put him right up there in strikers currently playing in the world, but his potential is great.
"If he can continue on the path he has been the past couple of seasons, he can prove himself as one of the world's best. "Without putting pressure on him, that would be my target if I was him."
