Newcastle braced for Arsenal January bid

Newcastle United are ready to fend off any advances from Arsenal regarding the transfer of their star striker, Alexander Isak, in the upcoming January transfer window, according to a report from The Chronicle.

The Gunners, who have been keeping tabs on Isak for over a year, are expected to face a clear ‘not for sale’ response from Newcastle should they decide to make a move.

Arsenal’s interest in the Swedish international has not waned, especially after their pursuit last summer, during which Chelsea also attempted to lure Isak away from St James’ Park.

However, Newcastle’s stance has remained steadfast—they have no intention of letting their prolific forward leave, particularly as they look to consolidate their position among the Premier League’s elite.

Isak, whose current contract runs until 2028, remains a central figure in Newcastle’s plans. The club sees Isak as integral to their ambitions.

The board’s confidence is clear: Isak is seen as a future number 9 who could even aspire to become Newcastle’s all-time leading goal scorer, a record currently held by Alan Shearer with 206 goals.

At 25, Isak has amassed 40 goals in his time at Newcastle, with many within the club believing he has the ability to reach such lofty heights if his commitment matches his talent.

Speaking on Isak’s potential, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe did not hold back his praise. “Alex has got undoubted qualities. I would put him right up there in terms of world strikers that are currently playing.

“But I feel that his potential is great. I think he can really, if he can continue on the path he has been the last few seasons, continue to go and prove himself as one of the world’s best,” Howe added.
