'Phenomenal': Paul Merson claims Wolves did something 'incredible' recently as he drops…

Wolves fans are looking forward to this weekend’s game with Bournemouth, having gone four games unbeaten.

Wolves beat Fulham 4-1 last weekend, with Matheus Cunha inspiring the team to victory with two more goals and an assist.

That result has really lifted the mood, and supporters are now hoping for another positive result against Bournemouth this weekend at Molineux.

Bournemouth will be without Antoine Semenyo who is suspended, so this is a decent chance to get more points on the board for Gary O’Neil. That said, Bournemouth are not to be underestimated.

Ahead of the game, Paul Merson gave his thoughts and score prediction.

Wolves could move up to 15th in the Premier League table this weekend if Leicester City and Everton both lose against Brentford and Manchester United respectively.

That would really get fans starting to believe that more is possible this season than a relegation battle.

But this game with Bournemouth could be tricky, with the Cherries doing pretty well so far in the Premier League. They sit 13th on 15 points.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Paul Merson reckons the spoils will be shared, as he warned Wolves about the south coast club.

He told Sportskeeda: “It was a phenomenal result for Wolves last weekend, no other word to define it. Fulham are a good team and for Wolves to go there and win 4-1 was something incredible. Wolves will not get relegated in my opinion. Matheus Cunha is their match-winner without a doubt. As long as he stays with them, Wolves will be safe in the race to avoid the drop from the Premier League.

Wolves won’t have it easy against Bournemouth though. I think this will be a really interesting game and I don’t expect Bournemouth to lose even though they are away from home. Wolves may have beat Fulham, but this is a dangerous game for them. I’m going for a draw here, but not without some entertainment.”

Merson also said that Matheus Cunha lacks consistency ahead of the game, which is something that will probably divide the Wolves fanbase.

A big chance for Wolves

Wolves have been bubbling along nicely in November after a very tough start and this game with Bournemouth is another chance for points.

Sure, it’s a potential banana skin. But Semenyo being unavailable is significant, and Wolves have the quality to win.

Gary O’Neil should perhaps consider starting Goncalo Guedes against Fulham, with the Portuguese having scored four goals so far this season in just 280 minutes of time on the pitch.

Neither Jean Ricner-Bellegarde nor Pablo Sarabia have really nailed down that right wing position, so Guedes may well finally get his first Premier League start of the season.
