Paul Merson admitted that Everton have a “special X-Factor” ahead of the clash with Manchester United this weekend.
The Toffees visit Old Trafford on Sunday (1 December) seeking to further the gap between themselves and the relegation zone ahead of a brutal run of fixtures in the festive period.
Sean Dyche’s side sit 15th in the Premier League, just two points above the drop zone and face the Red Devils, Wolves, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in their next six matches.
In his weekly prediction piece for Sportskeeda, the former Arsenal man predicted the hosts to win 2-0 but admits that the Toffees could spring a shock result, saying: “Everton are a team who have a special X-factor in them.
“They always have that one fixture every season when they just spring to life and surprise us.

“I’m going for a United win, but I can’t help but admit that I have a sneak feeling about Everton.”
Can Everton break losing streak against Manchester United?
The Blues have been beaten by the Red Devils on the last five occasions the teams have faced each other.
Their last success against United came in April 2022 when Anthony Gordon scored the only goal in a 1-0 win.
The Toffees have won just once since September and manager Sean Dyche is under heavy pressure as a result.

However, a good result against United could spark a revival for Dyche and give the side momentum ahead of dismal run of games in the run-up to Christmas.
The Blues will need Dominic Calvert-Lewin to be on top form if they are to get any kind of positive outcome but the Englishman has scored just two goals in the league so far this season, leading to criticism from former West Ham striker Dean Ashton.
Everton will need to show the X-factor that Merson claims they have if they are to finally end their poor run against their Manchester rivals.
