Paul Merson’s ‘concern’ about Matheus Cunha

He is the man of the moment for Wolves, but Paul Merson has questioned Matheus Cunha’s consistency.

He said: “The only concern I have about Cunha is that he can sometimes not turn up in certain games. If he is in the mood, he is such a fine player. But he has to do that on a more consistent basis.”

It’s a verdict that some will undoubtedly question, with only seven other Premier League players having made more goal contributions that Cunha since the start of last season.

Alfie Pond ‘buzzing’ to make Premier League debut for Wolves

Alfie Pond has given his reaction to making his Premier League debut for Wolves, towards the end of Saturday’s game against Fulham.

Pond came in for the last couple of minutes, and while he only had a couple of touches, it was an experience he will never forget.

He said: “It all happened so quickly, I think after the fourth goal went in the gaffer said ‘Get yourself ready’.

“I was buzzing when he said that and I couldn’t wait to get on even though it was for a couple of minutes.”

Pond had previously featured for Wolves in the Carabao Cup against Brighton for his actual debut.
