Chelsea secured a straightforward 2-0 win against Heidenheim at the Voith Arena in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday, November 28. The result sees the Blues remain top of the table with a perfect record of four wins in four, while their hosts remain seventh with nine points from four games.
Chelsea made a good start to the game as they kept the ball for extended spells looking to carve out an opening. With nearly 70% of the ball in the first half, the Blues threatened to score on several occasions as they created one move after another. However, they were met with tough resistance from Heidenheim custodian Kevin Muller, who made some great stops.
Chelsea attempted a total of 10 shots in the first half, with half of those on target. However, Muller saved all of them in a great first-half showing. Meanwhile, Heidenheim attempted five shots as well, managing four of those on target. Despite the highly end-to-end nature of this match, there were no goals to report in the first half as the teams were tied at 0-0.
The goalless nature of the game changed quickly in the second half as Chelsea grabbed the advantage just six minutes after the restart. Christopher Nkunku was the first to the ball as he slotted it into Heidenheim's net for 1-0 after 51 minutes. The hosts then made several changes as they looked to tweak their tactics in order to find a way back into the contest.
Heidenheim attempted a total of 11 shots in the second half, managing seven of those on target. This time, however, it was the visitors' goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen who was solid as he made seven saves. Chelsea had the last laugh and secured the result with a goal from Mykyaylo Mudryk in the 86th minute, assisted by Jadon Sancho.
