Chelsea defender Reece James is expected to be sidelined until the New Year after picking up a fresh hamstring injury.
The England international has suffered several muscular issues over the past 18 months and he has picked up another setback.
James sustained the blow in training last week and reports claim that he may not return to first-team action until January 2025.
The Blues want to be extra cautious with their captain after the latest injury and they are unlikely to rush him back this time.
James' absence is not necessarily a big blow for the Blues.
They are well covered in the right-back department with Malo Gusto. The Frenchman has been a revelation from the position.
Blues manager Enzo Maresca can also utilise the services of Axel Disasi and Wesley Fofana when required at right-back.
Chelsea are currently third in the table with 22 points. They will be aiming for another win when Aston Villa visit Stamford Bridge this weekend.
