West Ham United have reached out to Napoli over a possible deal for forward Giovanni Simeone ahead of the January transfer window, Football Transfers reports.
According to the news outlet’s website [28 November], the Hammers are considering a move for Simeone after growing frustrated with the injury woes of Niclas Fullkrug and the inconsistent form of Michail Antonio.
The Irons are long-standing admirers of the Argentine forward and pursued a move to no degree of success for the then-Hellas Verona man in the summer of 2022 [Calcio Mercato].
West Ham United must sign a new centre-forward in January
There is one glaringly obvious flaw in the current West Ham squad, and it appears Tim Steidten is willing to address it.
Antonio has been trusted to lead the line in East London this season with limited success; the 34-year-old has found the back of the net just once in 12 Premier League outings and looks certain to be heading for the exit door in the near future.

And while Fullkrug will take to the pitch again for the Hammers in the following “two or three matches”, frustrations are at an all-time high with the German forward, who has featured only three times since his big-money arrival from Borussia Dortmund.
West Ham are crying out for a consistent goalscorer at the London Stadium, having only scored 15 times this year – Julen Lopetegui is certain a new focal point for the frontline will turn the tide for his underwhelming tenure.

However, Simeone is not known for his prolific nature in front of goal and is appreciated in East London for his extensive top-flight European experience and spatial awareness.
Simeone, at 29, has never surpassed the 20-goal mark throughout his career – it appears Steidten has yet to learn from the failures of the summer transfer window.
This deal must be avoided at all costs.
