It certainly appears that a striker is very high on Newcastle United's transfer wish list with several reports coming out just today about the Magpies looking at various strikers.

The Boot Room have now reported that Newcastle recently sent scouts to Germany to run the rule over one of its brightest stars.

Along with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea, the Magpies sent their scouts to watch Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush who has 14 goals and 10 assists already this season.

Marmoush isn't a new name to be linked with Newcastle, but it sounds like things are hotting up in the pursuit of the Egyptian forward.

Omar Marmoush remains of interest to Newcastle United

Frankfurt have issued a hands-off warning to clubs keen on Omar Marmoush

However, it seems that Newcastle and all of their fellow admirers would be wasting their time if they were to try and prise Marmoush away from Frankfurt in January.

Frankfurt's sporting director, Timmo Hardung has made it abundantly clear that they have no intention of parting with Marmoush in January and that the player himself has shown no signs of wanting to leave.

It seems that clubs are going to be made to wait to fight it out in the summer over the 25-year-old.

Newcastle seems reluctant to recruit strikers from the Bundesliga

We have seen Newcastle linked to Bundesliga strikers before who have gone on insane runs of top form, but then moves never materialise.

Serhou Guirassy was a name that was constantly appearing in Newcastle United circles last season and the club never even seemed to give him a second glance despite scoring for fun.

Clearly, it feels like there's too big of a gulf between the Bundesliga to the Premier League that Newcastle's scouts aren't convinced can be bridged by most players. We've seen it with the likes of Timo Werner who could score blindfolded in the Bundesliga but shoots like he is blindfolded in the Premier League.

So pinches of salt with this one, but there's definitely potential there nonetheless.
