Man United star responded to Ruben Amorim fury by doing something he will love against Bodo/Glimt

Ruben Amorim picked up his first win as Manchester United boss on Thursday evening with a 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt.

A five-goal comeback thriller was a fitting way for Ruben Amorim to announce himself at Old Trafford.

Just as Manchester United did against Ipswich Town on Sunday, they started brilliantly and Alejandro Garnacho scored within the first minute.

Amorim urged United to take control of matches after watching performance levels drop against Ipswich but the same mistake was made against Bodo/Glimt and the visitors ended up taking the lead after a quickfire double.

However, Rasmus Hojlund scored either side of half-time to complete the comeback and pick up an important three points in United’s Europa League campaign.

Rasmus Hojlund corrected mistake vs Bodo/Glim

Hojlund did not start against Ipswich in Amorim’s first match, but he came off the bench to push for a winner that never came.

Many want Hojlund to emulate Viktor Gyokeres at United by replicating what the Swedish star did under Amorim at Sporting. That is a tall order, but he has made a bright start.

Against Ipswich, Amorim was furious with Hojlund for not closing down the goalkeeper in the second half. It was said that the United boss had an “incredulous” reaction.

However, Amorim gave Hojlund the responsibility of leading the line against Bodo/Glimt and his faith was repaid almost immediately.

Hojlund forced United’s opener by closing down goalkeeper Nikita Khaikin within the opening minute. His pressure forced a fumbled pass which was pounced on by Alejandro Garnacho.

Rasmus Hojlund is perfect for Ruben Amorim

Hojlund has shown plenty of raw potential since joining United for £64m last summer, and everyone is hoping that Amorim can help Hojlund reach a new level.

One issue for Hojlund under Erik ten Hag was that he was not seeing enough of the ball. On average, he touches the ball 3.4/90 in the opposition box which puts him in the bottom four percentile of all strikers in top-five leagues.

However, Hojlund looked more involved vs Ipswich after coming off the bench and he looked well-suited to Amorim’s system against Bodo/Glimt.

Amorim is very demanding of his strikers but there should be no concerns about Hojlund’s workrate. He proved on Thursday evening that he is willing to press from the front and that will be music to Amorim’s ears.
