Filip Jorgensen will get all the credit but 61-touch star was Chelsea’s real hero vs Heidenheim - opinion

Filip Jorgensen put in an outstanding performance against Heidenheim, but there was another player who proved to be a hero for Chelsea.

Enzo Maresca‘s side sit at the top of the Europa Conference League table with four wins from four games.

It’s been a blessing for Chelsea to be able to rest their stars and give a largely second string team chances in a European competition, with a number of players taking their chances.

Mykhailo Mudryk has struggled in the Premier League, but he’s been a beast in the Conference League, scoring three goals and assisting three in four games.

Filip Jorgensen is another name to add to the list of players to shine in the competition, as he put in arguably his best display in a Chelsea shirt.

However, there was another performer who went slightly under the radar.

Filip Jorgensen’s performance in numbers against Heidenheim

Filip Jorgensen was gifted the man of the match award for his performance against Heidenheim and it was well deserved.

The goalkeeper made seven saves from inside the box, prevented 2.18 goals, had 64 touches, a passing accuracy percentage of 84 and completed four long balls (as per SofaScore).

Peter Crouch even called for Jorgensen to receive more game time in place of Robert Sanchez, which could be a favourable move in the eyes of Chelsea fans.

However, it remains to be seen as to whether Enzo Maresca would want to make that decision.

Jadon Sancho was the real hero vs Heidenheim

Jadon Sancho continues to go from strength to strength at Chelsea.

Five assists in eight games is a brilliant return for a player who’s been in and out of the side this season.

His performance against Heidenheim was nothing short of excellent. He had 61 touches, a passing accuracy percentage of 92, made two key passes, created one big chance, blocked one shot, won four duels, completed three dribbles, blocked one shot and made a tackle.

It was an extremely well-rounded performance from Sancho, who was involved in everything good for Chelsea moving forward. His assists tally would look even better if his teammates could finish.

Sancho is even starting to contribute defensively for the Blues too, which is great to see.

Enzo Maresca enjoyed his performance too.
