AS Monaco to be without TWO key players for Arsenal clash

Arsenal have been dealt a massive boost with the news that two AS Monaco stars will miss the French side’s upcoming UEFA Champions League League Phase tie against the Gunners.

Wilfried Singo and Christian Mawissa have made a combined 23 appearances in all competitions for AS Monaco so far this season, and are proving important members of Adi Hütter’s squad.

Les Rouge et Blanc visit the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday 11 December 2024 and, as they sit second in the Ligue 1 table, they will be looking to inflict a problem for Mikel Arteta’s side who are in a quest to secure a place in the top eight of the league phase of the competition.

AS Monaco are also in contention for an illustrious place in the top eight, however, and currently sit level on points with Arsenal (each on 10 points), but trail the Gunners by just a single goal in goal difference.

When the French giants arrive in London, however, they will be without Singo and Mawissa, who will both be suspended for the huge game against Arsenal.

Singo was sent off for two yellow card offences during AS Monaco’s previous Champions League game, a 3-2 loss at home to Benfica, meaning that the Ivorian international must now serve a one-game ban, against Arsenal in the competition.

Similarly, Mawissa picked up his third yellow card in the Champions League this season, a threshold which triggers an automatic one-game suspension, meaning that the 19-year-old will also play no part in the hugely important game against Arsenal next month.

The Gunners’ loyal supporters have been left overjoyed by the news of their apparent advantage over AS Monaco, with one such supporter saying: “This could be a game-changer for Arsenal! Let’s see how they capitalize on this opportunity in their next UCL match,” on X (formerly Twitter).
