A look at the possible Arsenal starting XI to face West Ham in the Premier League.
Arsenal are back in action on Saturday when they take on London rivals West Ham looking to continue the strong form they have shown since the international break. The Gunners have won both of their games since returning from the break, scoring eight goals in two games.
Mikel Arteta’s men need to stay consistent to catch Liverpool, and they face a tough challenge against West Ham, who beat Newcastle United away on Monday night. Here we take a look at the possible Arsenal starting XI for the clash.
GK - David Raya
Raya is the Gunners’ undisputed number one.
LB - Riccardo Calafiori
Calafiori came off for Jakub Kiwior last time out, but he looks to be the preferred starter as things stand. Kieran Tierney is also back in contention.
CB - Gabriel Magalhaes
Gabriel remains the first choice centre-back alongside Saliba.
CB - William Saliba
The same applies here, with Saliba remaining one of Arsenal’s most important players.
RB - Jurrien Timber
Timber is the first choice on the right with Ben White out. Arteta doesn’t have too many choices here.
CDM - Declan Rice
Rice is a key starter in the heart of midfield, and he will remain a starter when fit.
CDM - Mikel Merino
Merino is the preferred option in the heart of midfield, and he was rested during the week. Thomas Partey, Jorginho and Ethan Nwaneri are also options here.
CAM - Martin Odegaard
Arsenal are a different outfit with Odegaard back fit and playing well. The Norwegian will be starting here.
LW - Leandro Trossard
Gabriel Martinelli has picked up an injury, with Arteta saying after taking off the Brazilian against Sporting CP: “We don't' know because he said he was feeling some discomfort. I was about to make the change of [Raheem Sterling], but I couldn't.” Given the quick turnaround, a Trossard start may be more likely here.
RW - Bukayo Saka
Saka is showing signs of good form again after a wobble before the break. He is expected to start here.
Havertz is clearly the preferred option ahead of Gabriel Jesus up top. That’s unlikely to change here.
