It is quite normal for a club like FC Barcelona to undergo some massive changes over the course of any given season. Due to the demands of the football calendar, it essentially becomes necessary for top clubs to understand their squad depth to its full capacity. Even for Hansi Flick at Barcelona, it is taking some time to do the same.
After all, the German coach has to make the most out of what he already has at his disposal. His budget reportedly remains low due to Barcelona being careful with their financial situation, and that simply means that the first-team coach has to utilize his current resources as much as possible.
Fortunately for the Barcelona head coach, it seems that his experimentations and rotations have now finally delivered some much-needed answers. One rather important answer that Flick now has is one that identifies what his ideal midfield is for the Catalan giants.
According to SPORT, it is none other than a combination of Pedri and Marc Casado as the two defensive midfielders, while summer signing Dani Olmo is the man who is tasked with initiating plays higher up the field and presenting himself as a goal threat simultaneously.

Now a guarantee for Hansi Flick, Olmo possesses a unique gift that allows him to connect well with his teammates and always take up good positions to either be dangerous himself or open up ways for his teammates on the field.
Whereas Casado and Pedri remain universally praised for their performances this season, Dani Olmo has also made quite an impact at the Catalan club following his arrival.
Even when he does not have the best of games, such as against Brest in the UEFA Champions League, Olmo is able to influence the proceedings within a match. His positional awareness remains elite, and so does his threat in front of goal and his technical aspects as well.
In fact, Olmo is currently the highest-scoring La Liga midfielder across all competitions. Scoring goals for fun this season while also creating opportunities for his teammates, the former RB Leipzig star is already close to surpassing his best-ever tally, which was eight goals for his former team. For context, he already has six for Barça this season.
Even with all his midfielders available, it now becomes clear that Hansi Flick may have his chosen few. While rotations are understandably necessary over the course of a long season, knowing his strongest possible combination of players is equally vital.
