"Every time I've seen him play, he's not put a foot wrong" - Peter Crouch wants Chelsea to start 22-year-old against Aston Villa

Former England international Peter Crouch has advised Chelsea to start Filip Jorgensen in goal for this weekend's game against Aston Villa. The Blues host the Villans at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, December 1, in the Premier League.

The London giants arrive at the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Heidenheim on Thursday, November 28, in the Europa Conference League. While Christopher Nkunku and Mykhaylo Mudryk scored the goals, Jorgensen was also impressive between the sticks.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Crouch insisted that the Dane hasn't put a foot wrong since arriving at Chelsea.

"Chelsea didn’t have their own way tonight, they had to rely on Jorgensen quite a few times. I think he deserves a shot, I have to say. There’s been a lot talk around Sanchez, a few mistakes, he looks nervy at times. Every time I’ve seen him [Jorgensen] play, he’s not put a foot wrong," said Crouch.

Robert Sanchez has been used exclusively in the Premier League by Enzo Maresca, but the Spaniard has failed to inspire confidence. He has conceded 14 goals in 12 games and registered only two clean sheets.

Jorgensen, meanwhile, arrived at Stamford Bridge this summer on a reported £20.7m deal from Villarreal. The 22-year-old has been restricted to appearances in the Conference League as well as the EFL Cup so far.

Jorgensen has registered four clean sheets in eight games across competitions, conceding seven goals. He is yet to make his Premier League debut.

How have Chelsea performed under Enzo Maresca this season?

Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca was roped in as Mauricio Pochettino's replacement at Chelsea this summer. The Italian manager has enjoyed a decent start to life at Stamford Bridge, with the team currently third in the Premier League.

The Blues have won six of their 12 games in the league so far, losing just two. They have scored 23 goals in the Premier League - with only leaders Liverpool scoring more - and have conceded 14.

Meanwhile, the London giants have also been impressive in the UEFA Conference League. Chelsea are leading the table after four games, with four wins to their name. The Blues have scored 18 goals in the tournament and conceded just three so far.

However, Enzo Maresca's team failed to progress beyond the fourth round in the EFL Cup. They were knocked out by Newcastle United, who secured a 2-0 win at St. James' Park in October.
