The new documentary series about the Spanish national football team, Un equipo llamado España, will highlight some of the most memorable moments from the team during the 2024 UEFA European Championship in Germany.
One of the most striking scenes, already shared by Prime Video and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), features Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, the duo that took the summer by storm.
The Athletic Club winger recounts an anecdote that occurred before the semifinal match between France and Spain.
It took place on the bus heading to the Allianz Arena, where the FC Barcelona teenage prodigy fell asleep in the back seats ahead of one of the biggest matches of his career.
“We were going to play the semifinal of EURO 2024, and on the way to the game I was feeling terrified and Lamine Yamal was… asleep! I thought by myself, how can he fall asleep before such an important game? This kid…” said Nico.

These images are astonishing, as they reflect the natural way in which a player of just 16 years old at the time – now 17 – handled such a crucial moment in the latter stages of a major tournament, where the pressure is immense.
As it is well known, Lamine’s calmness did not end on the bus. On the pitch, he carried the team on his shoulders and started the comeback win over France with a spectacular long-range goal that will go down in history.
Yamal was eventually named the Best Young Player of the Tournament in Germany and his exploits at the Euros have helped him win the Kopa Trophy and the Golden Boy award.
The documentary chronicles the successful journey of the Spanish team as they secured their fourth European Championship, overcoming opponents such as Italy, Croatia, Germany, France, and England, while captivating the football world with their exceptional level of play.
The series will be available on Prime Video from 29th November and can be streamed in over 200 countries.
