Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is desperate to come up against Liverpool again in the Champions League this season — with the Spaniard eyeing revenge for this week's defeat for Los Blancos.
Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo both scored in the second half at Anfield with Liverpool winning 2-0. While Real Madrid was missing key men including Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo, Arne Slot was also without Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Nevertheless, Ceballos wants another shot at beating Liverpool. He hopes to face the Reds again during the knockout phase — though Real Madrid, now having lost three European games this season, still has work to do to progress to that point of the competition.
"Real Madrid has not reached its best level yet," Ceballos told TNT Sports Brasil. "I hope we meet Liverpool in February or March and it will be a different match for sure."
Prior to this week's game, Liverpool had lost seven and drawn one of the last eight meetings between the sides. But Slot did what Jurgen Klopp couldn't and came out on top against Real Madrid at his first attempt.
Liverpool is the only Champions League team with a 100 per cent record so far this season and looks set to progress into the knockout phase without the need for a play-off. Next up, the Reds travel to Girona where it could further extend its winning run.
Liverpool.com says: While Real Madrid was not at its peak during the game on Wednesday, Liverpool was comfortably the more impressive of the teams. There were injuries on both sides and it was the Reds who managed that better. Kylian Mbappe was silenced and Jude Bellingham was largely anonymous.
