Amanda Staveley in talks with Daniel Levy
It has been widely reported that Newcastle’s former co-owner Amanda Staveley, backed by wealthy investors in the Middle East, is in talks to buy a minority stake in Tottenham Hotspur.
There have even been suggestions by some outlets that talks are advancing over Staveley and her consortium buying a 25 per cent stake in the Lilywhites (Football Insider).
However, it is now being reported that a development concerning Real Madrid might put a break on those talks.

Real Madrid hand potential blow to Levy and Spurs
Unlike Spurs and other Premier League sides, Real Madrid have a completely different ownership structure as they are owned by 60,000 fee-paying fans known as the ‘socios’.
However, according to Bloomberg, the club’s president Florentino Perez has said that this could soon change, with the La Liga giants set to open up to private investors.
TBR Football relay this information and suggest that this could be bad news for Tottenham. They claim that the consortium that Staveley has assembled is ‘fragile’, with many investors only providing conditional support to their plans to buy into Spurs.

Real Madrid’s announcement is bad news for all PL clubs
Madrid’s announcement about potentially being open to private investment is not good news for the Premier League owners who are looking to sell.
All potential investors will now perhaps be inclined to wait and watch the developments at the Santiago Bernabeu before rushing into a decision.
However, Tottenham’s balance sheet is among the strongest in Europe and one would think that the North London club will still be able to attract investors.
