Chris Sutton believes that Everton will be able to secure a draw against Manchester United because their opponents have yet to adapt to life under Ruben Amorim.

The Toffees travel to Old Trafford on Sunday [1 December] with the need to pick up some points having only won two Premier League games so far this season.

The Red Devils do come into this game on the back of a 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League but could only muster a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town last weekend.

Sutton has a hunch the Toffees could claim a 1-1 draw as United get to grips with the “reality” they don’t have the players for Amorim’s favoured 3-4-3 formation.

Writing for his BBC Sport Premier League predictions: “There has been so much hype, or even over-hype, about Manchester United, and I feel a bit sorry for their new manager Ruben Amorim because he needs time, and two or three transfer windows, to put things right.

“There was a lot of excitement over the way they started his first game in charge, against Ipswich, but blimey you have got a problem if the Tractor Boys are out-playing you, which is what happened in the end.

“Things got worse for Amorim when Ed Sheeran interrupted his interview on Sky afterwards. I have to give credit to commentator Conor McNamara here, but maybe it is time for Amorim to listen to one of Sheeran’s biggest hits and think about ‘the shape of Man U’.

“I think the reality is hitting home about Amorim using his favoured 3-4-3 formation with their current squad – especially with Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in midfield.

“As for Everton, well a fair few of their fans still seem to be on Sean Dyche’s back, and they could not find a way past Brentford’s 10 men last week.

“This time, they will be the team looking to hold out and I believe they can do it because this United team is going to take a while to click.

“Once the initial buzz of Amorim’s first home game dies down, things could go flat at Old Trafford, the way it has done quite a lot recently.

“I hope it happens for them under Amorim because he seems like a decent guy, but he is in the Manchester United madhouse now and he is about to find out what it is like to be under the microscope every single week. Prediction: 1-1.”

What does Sean Dyche need to take the pressure off at Everton?

Although Blues fans would probably be happy with a draw away at Old Trafford, given there are only five points separating the sides in the league, some may feel that it is essential to pick up the win to relieve the pressure they feel sitting just two points above the relegation zone.

After Sean Dyche’s side failed to capitalise on 10-man Brentford at the weekend, it will be interesting to see what they can show of themselves this weekend and whether they can take advantage of the fact that their opponents may not be in their best form.

It is hard to predict how Manchester United will show up given their recent managerial change but if, as Sutton predicts, they are slow to get started as they are still trying to click, then this is definitely an opportunity for the Toffees to add at least one point to the board.

It is going to take a big change at Goodison to see the Blues boss have a chance of keeping his job after a takeover goes through but if he is eager to save his future then he needs to see a change from his team sooner rather than later.
