Ruud van Nistelrooy will have to fend off his former club to sign a top talent for Leicester City.
The Foxes’ search for a Steve Cooper replacement is set to come to an end less than a week after he was dismissed.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will be announced by Leicester City as their new head coach shortly, less than a month after leaving Manchester United.
The Dutchman returned to Old Trafford over the summer, acting as an assistant to Erik ten Hag before replacing his fellow countryman as interim manager.
However, the 48-year-old then left Manchester after Ruben Amorim’s arrival and is now set to link up with Leicester City.
Van Nistelrooy will not manage Leicester vs Brentford on Saturday, but he is expected to watch on from the stands at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The game should give the former striker a good chance to assess his squad and identify where he needs to strengthen ahead of January.

One option being considered by the Foxes is Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush.
According to Tipsbladet, Leicester sent scouts to Denmark on Thursday evening to watch Marmoush in Europa League action against FC Midtjylland.
However, Leicester were not the only team eyeing the striker, who scored in the 2-1 win, in midweek.
Borussia Monchengladbach, FC Koln, Paris Saint-Germain and van Nistelrooy’s former club, Manchester United, were also looking at the player ahead of a potential transfer.

What Mohamed Salah said about Leicester City target Omar Marmoush

The 25-year-old is also an Egypt international, playing 35 times and scoring six goals for his country.
Given his superb form and the fact he is Egyptian, he has inevitably been compared to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
The Liverpool winger has since responded to claims that Marmoush is the ‘new Salah’, as per WinWin.
He said: “Omar Marmoush, incredibly talented and currently a key player for his club and the national team.
“But I hope he can stay away from comparisons because they will keep putting him under constant pressure.
“I just want him to avoid the idea of comparisons. People need to stop comparing him to me, saying he’s ‘the new Salah’ and that he’ll do what I did or even better, this doesn’t help him; it only puts him under constant pressure.
“You can’t compare him to a player who has achieved so much over the years while he’s just starting out. Let him live his own experience and enjoy it. He’s doing something different, in his own unique way.”
