Ange Postecoglou provides Cristian Romero injury update ahead of Spurs vs Fulham

Ange Postecoglou has not ruled out Cristian Romero from Tottenham's game against Fulham this weekend.

The Spurs vice-captain has missed Tottenham's last two games due to a toe injury, which flared up while on international duty with Argentina earlier this month. With Micky van de Ven also out at present, Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies have been deployed at centre-back and have done a decent job in truth.

Postecoglou did not want to rule out Romero completely for Sunday's game against Fulham, although the Australian did admit it was "unlikely" the Argentinian makes his comeback against Marco Silva's side. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Postecoglou said: "Clean bill of health from last night but I thought that last week.

"We'll see when the boys come in. Unlikely when it comes to returns but Romero is closer but probably unlikely. I'm not ruling him out. He's got to get through a few things today and then there's a session tomorrow."

Romero has featured 13 times for Spurs in all competitions this season, with his only goal coming against Everton in August. His centre-back partner Van de Ven has been absent for the past five Spurs games after picking up a hamstring injury during the Carabao Cup victory over Man City last month.

The Dutchman has since returned to training, however, although will not be rushed back. “Micky is still a couple of weeks away,” Postecoglou said last week.

“He is on the grass training but he is still a coulee of weeks away. We’re hoping by the middle of December he is back and available to play.”
