Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has made somewhat of a U-turn on Jhon Duran it seems, and it’s great news for West Ham United.
West Ham chased Jhon Duran all summer long, but we missed out on him eventually after Aston Villa demanded north of £40 million for the striker.
In my opinion we should have signed the 20-year-old anyway – he’s easily worth that amount – and he would have completely transformed the Hammers as a team.
At one point in the summer, it seemed for all the world that Duran would join West Ham from Villa, after he did the ‘crossed hammers’ sign during a live stream.
However, it wasn’t to be in the end, and Julen Lopetegui brought Niclas Fullkrug to the London Stadium instead.
We all know how that one has turned out.

I have no doubts that Lopetegui and Tim Steidten are eyeing up moves for strikers who can really take us to the next level, ahead of the January transfer window.

Jhon Duran twist leaves door open for West Ham
The Colombia international has been on fire for Villa this season so far, with eight goals to his name already.
However, he still isn’t a regular starter for the Villans, and is serving as Ollie Watkins’ understudy right now.
Duran clearly wants to be the main man, and that’s why the latest claim coming out of his home country is so interesting.

According to a report from Antena 2, Villa boss Unai Emery is demanding big improvements from the 20-year-old striker.
And if Emery doesn’t see that from Duran, he will sell him.
Door open for the Hammers then it seems.
I’m convinced that we should go back in for him in the January window with an offer of £40 million – take it or leave it.
I firmly believe that Villa will sell him as well. Despite his brilliance, something is not quite as it should be over at Villa Park.
And if West Ham manage to prise Jhon Duran away from Aston Villa in January, we could be onto something really special.
