Shea Charles spoke to the press on Thursday afternoon, ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s trip to Derby County on Sunday.
Sheffield Wednesday loan man Shea Charles has been a shining light since joining from Southampton during the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old was the last of Wednesday’s 11 summer signings and he’s since started every game for Danny Rohl’s side.
Charles’ form has been really impressive. After the last outing, Charles was named in the Championship Team of the Week, and he’s also shone on the international stage too.
For the November international break, Charles was made Northern Ireland captain and played in the starting XI alongside brother Piece Charles.
But there’s been a lot of speculation about Shea’s future at Hillsborough with many fans fearing a possible Southampton recall in January.
Southampton have no intentions of recalling Charles as things stand, though, leaving him free to potentially see out the season in S6.

Shea Charles hails Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan
Speaking to Football Heaven on Thursday, ahead of the game against Derby County on Sunday afternoon, Charles was asked what it’s like playing next to Owls skipper Barry Bannan.

It was clear from the get-go that Charles arriving allowed Bannan a bit more creative licence in the midfield, whilst Bannan’s expertise has clearly had a positive impact on the much younger Charles in midfield.
Charles said of their partnership: “I feel like it started off really strong. He makes the game easier for everyone.
“And obviously, me being right next to him, that helps me a lot. He’s so experienced, and whenever I do anything wrong, he’ll tell me, which I’m really happy about.
“When I do good things, he’ll tell me as well. So he’s been really good with me.”
Russell Martin knew what Shea Charles was getting into at Sheffield Wednesday
Speaking earlier in the season, Southampton boss Russell Martin spoke positively about Charles’ Sheffield Wednesday loan spell, and about Bannan too.
Martin and Bannan have played together for Scotland in the past. The Saints boss said: “We are really pleased for him [Charles].
“I’m also very pleased for Barry. Baz is an outstanding footballer, one of the most talented ones I’ve played with. He’s still going strong.”
From Martin and Charles’ comments, it’s clear that Bannan is not only a well-regarded name among Wednesday fans, but in wider football too.
Playing next to such an experienced player in Bannan, who’s still so good at Championship level, can only be of huge benefit for Charles this season.
Derby County against Sheffield Wednesday kicks off at 3pm in Sunday.
