It’s been a rather strange day for Everton fans as two former flops have been nominated for a FIFA award.
Everton have struggled to get the best out of a number of players this season, including the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Vitalii Mykolenko.
Mykolenko was labelled as a ‘weak link’ this season, and we have to agree.
Meanwhile, Everton fans had a pop at Calvert-Lewin for ‘doing nothing’ against Brentford last weekend.
However, it would be harsh to call either of these players flop, despite their disappointing seasons to date, as they have had good times on Merseyside.
Moving away from the current Everton side, two flops who used to operate at Goodison Park have been nominated for a FIFA award.
Ademola Lookman and Salomon Rondon nominated for Best Attacker at FIFA The Best Awards 2024
Ademola Lookman joined Everton as one of the most exciting talents in England back in 2017.
However, he just wasn’t able to live up to his full potential and ended up scoring just four goals in 42 games for the Toffees before being offloaded in 2019.

Meanwhile, Salomon Rondon played 31 times for Everton. He scored just three times and ended up leaving by mutual consent in 2022.

However, their performances over the past year have been rewarded at Atalanta (Lookman) and Pachuca (Rondon), as they’ve been put up for an award.
Both Ademola Lookman and Salomon Rondon nominated for Best Attacker at FIFA The Best Awards 2024.
Salomon Rondon and Ademola Lookman’s stats over the past year
Salomon Rondon just seems to be getting better with age. He’s now 35, but that hasn’t stopped him.
The South American has five goals in 13 games this season, which follows on from 20 goals and three assists in 31 games in the last campaign.
Ademola Lookman has also been on fire at Atalanta, with nine goals and five assists in just 15 appearances, as he looks to improve on the 27 goals and assists in 2023-2024.
Interestingly, Lookman also finished in the Ballon d’Or top 20 this year.
