Everton are reluctant to see Dominic Calvert-Lewin leave the club in January amid ongoing speculation, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that his contract situation is a concern for the Toffees, but they want to keep him at Goodison Park for the immediate future.
Calvert-Lewin’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, and there had been suggestions that Everton could cash in amid interest from rival Premier League clubs.
Despite his lack of goalscoring threat, the 27-year-old is viewed as a key part of Sean Dyche’s team thanks to the presence he brings up front.
However, he has scored just two goals in 12 Premier League games so far this season while Everton have struggled to find the net regularly.
As a result, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the Toffees have already begun looking at new strikers ahead of the January window.

This, though, is not expected to impact Calvert-Lewin’s future, as the club want to add to their attacking talent rather than having to find an immediate replacement.
Everton make Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer decision
Calvert-Lewin has started all 12 of the Toffees’ Premier League games so far this season and appears to have put his injury issues behind him, in a major boost.
However, his struggles in front of goal have been highlighted by a dip in form as Dyche’s side have won just two games from their opening 12.
He remains a key part of the team, however, with his hold-up play and aerial ability viewed as vital to the way the team play.
Everton, meanwhile, have scored just ten goals in the league so far and have failed to score in any of their last three games, building pressure on the manager’s position.
As a result, they are keen to add firepower to their squad to help boost their chances of surviving relegation come the end of the season.

Concerns have also grown surrounding the financial situation at Goodison Park, and there is an acceptance that they could struggle to land a replacement.
Should Calvert-Lewin depart in January, Everton would be forced into the transfer window, but believe a replacement could be out of their budget.
