Ibrahima Konate has broken his silence after suffering an injury during Liverpool's UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid.

On Wednesday night, Arne Slot's men produced a stunning performance under the lights at Anfield as goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo sealed a 2-0 win over Madrid.

However, the victory was marred by injuries suffered by defensive duo Conor Bradley and Konate.

Konate went down in the last few seconds of the match after colliding with Madrid youngster Endrick. The Frenchman was then seen limping off the Anfield turf as concerns began to grow about the severity of the injury.

After the match, Reds boss Slot said: "It’s difficult to judge so soon after the game. I’m really hoping that both will be available to play."

However, it looks like Konate is set to be sidelined for a while as he took to Instagram on break the news on Friday afternoon.

He wrote on his official Instagram account: "So frustrating to pick up this injury right at the end of a great game on Wednesday night.

"Now we start the recovery process but one thing I promise is I will come back and be the best I can be once again. Thank you for the amazing support at Anfield. Inshallah we will keep going and I will support the team every step of the way."
