Aston Villa have Jhon Duran to blame after a stat emerged that only Everton have a worse shot-on-target ratio in the Premier League this season.
The Villans have had a topsy-turvy season which has seen them struggle at different points in both attacking and defensive areas.
These have both contributed to a recent slump in form which has seen Unai Emery’s side fail to win in their last seven games across all competition.
Now it has emerged from Villa reporter John Townley via X on Friday (29 November) that just 31 per cent of shots have been on target with only Everton having a lower percentage so far this campaign.
Although there are plenty of issues within the forward line in B6, Duran has played his part in this damming statistic.

This has been down in part to making the vast majority of his appearances from the bench which has made it difficult to find a rhythm.
With that being said, Emery has been reluctant to trust the 20-year-old from the start of games and this statistic is a good indicator as to why.

This would be excused by the Villa manager if Duran was having impacts like he did earlier on in the season but that hasn’t been the case in recent weeks.
Against Crystal Palace (23 November), the ex-Chicago Fire starlet registered just seven touches across a 21-minute cameo and failed to have a shot on target while having just two touches in the opposition penalty area which just isn’t good enough.

This trend continued into the Champions League against Juventus (27 November), this time having just five touches and again failing to register a shot or a single duel which he is typically so good at.
The forward who was famed earlier in the season as a “super sub” needs to refind his form or risk spending the rest of the campaign as Ollie Watkins’ number two.
