Aston Villa dealt another huge injury blow for Chelsea as nervy wait confirmed

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has provided an update on his squad's availability ahead of the Premier League clash with Chelsea on Sunday. Midfielder Amadou Onana could make a comeback from a foot injury he sustained on international duty with Belgium, but Jacob Ramsey is confirmed to be still out of action due to a hamstring issue suffered in the loss to Liverpool.

Boubacar Kamara has made a return after his hamstring injury, featuring in Villa's Champions League game against Juventus. Meanwhile Ezri Konsa is another potential returnee following a hip injury incurred playing for England.

In the lead-up to the Chelsea fixture, Emery was quizzed about his team's condition. "The last match we weren't with Onana and Ramsey," he said. "Ramsey is out as well [for Chelsea], but Onana, it depends how he is progressing. In case he can train tomorrow, we will see."

Villa are eager to capture their first league win in six weeks, coming off a goalless draw with Juventus and previous results that include draws with Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, accompanied by away losses at Tottenham and Liverpool. Chelsea, on the other hand, are in good form and continued their own strong run in Europe - albeit in the Conference League, with a 2-0 win over German outfit Heidenheim.

Enzo Maresca will be missing his captain, Reece James, in the upcoming match against Villa, as he is expected to be sidelined until late December at least with a hamstring injury. Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto could both make an appearance against Villa after returning to training at Cobham this week, reports Birmingham Live.

Villa have clinched victory in their last two Premier League away games against Chelsea, equalling their record from their previous 21 visits to Stamford Bridge. They last achieved three consecutive away league victories against the Blues between 1930 and 1933.

Chelsea will start the day three points above Villa and know that they could end it in second if results go their way. Villa are one of three sides on 19 points in a tight race for the top four at this stage of the season.
