Christensen responds to talk he’s on his way out of Barca

Andreas Christensen has responded to rumors he could be set to leave Barcelona by insisted he’s not thinking about a move.

The Dane has been out with an Achilles injury that recently required surgery, although Christensen has made it clear it was only a very minor operation.

He’s now been talking to Danish television and was asked about speculation he could be on his way out of the club.

“You can’t do anything but smile about it when you don’t hear anything yourself,” he told TV Sport 2.

“I can only speak from the conversations I’ve had with the club and so far they’ve just said to make sure I’m ready and they’re looking forward to me being back.”

Christensen was then asked if he would be staying at Barca and responded: “Yes, of course.”

“I approach it with the attitude that it will be difficult. They’ve done incredibly well and it’s up to me to knock them off. The ultimate goal is to come back and play as many matches as possible, but it will be difficult,” he said.

“It’s been a while since I’ve talked to him (Flick) tactically, but I played as a 6 in pre season, so it could well be a thought, but I think mainly that it will be as a central defender. It’s also where I’d rather play.”

Christensen is still a little way off a comeback but it’s hoped he could be ready to make a comeback some time in January.
