Jude Bellingham issues apology to Real Madrid fans after Liverpool defeat

Jude Bellingham has apologised to Real Madrid fans after the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League.

Los Blancos have endured a tough start to the 2024/25 campaign and currently sit 24th in the new-look Champions League standings. The reigning European champions had already suffered defeats to AC Milan and Lille before their most recent loss to Liverpool on Wednesday.

Bellingham hailed the Reds as the "best-performing team in Europe" after he and attacking counterparts Kylian Mbappe and Brahim Diaz failed to score at Anfield. But now, after taking some time to process the result, the England star has issued an apology to fans.

"Always one step forward and two steps back at the moment," Bellingham shared on Instagram. "Really disappointing performance and result despite the brilliant opponent. Must thank and apologise to all the Madridistas that followed us in England.

"No point dwelling on what we can no longer change, we have to remain together and push each other in this next important stretch of games. Hala Madrid Siempre."

Despite the club's poor run of form in the Champions League, manager Carlo Ancelotti still has high hopes and expects them to secure a place in the final. Vinicius Junior is the latest star sent to the treatment room in the midst of a mounting injury crisis for Madrid, but Ancelotti is hopeful the team can find their best form again soon.
