UCL table as Arsenal, Liverpool shine, Real Madrid struggle

The UEFA Champions League returned this week and it has been interesting matches so far, with five fixtures played by all the 36 footballer in the tournament.

Following the fifth fixtures, the Champions League table is beginning to take shape.

Liverpool led by new manager Arne Slot who arrived at Anfield as a replacement for Jürgen Klopp has been impressive in the UCL like they have in the Premier League where they are the current toppers.

The Reds defeated Spanish giants Real Madrid in a 2-0 win on Wednesday night to go top with 15 points and a goal difference of +11.

Real Madrid who are the current U holders are down in 24th place.

The Los Blancos’ rivals Barcelona defeated Brest 3-0 in their fifth outing and are up to third spot behind Serie A side Inter Milan.

Premier League side Arsenal boosted their chances of automatic qualification after they defeated Portuguese side Sporting 5-1. The North London club are sitting in 7th position.

French giants Paris Saint-Germain defeated Bundesliga club Bayern Munich 1-0, meaning they are 25th and in danger of elimination.

After the teams have played eight matches, the top eight will proceed to the last 16 and those ranked between ninth and 24th go to the play-offs trying to join them.
