'He's important': Kieran McKenna worried about 'very good' Nottingham Forest player

One Nottingham Forest player has already got Kieran McKenna worried ahead of the Ipswich Town clash later on today.

Nottingham Forest have the chance to get their European push back on track against an Ipswich Town side that have struggled for consistency.

Ipswich have conceded 14 goals in six games away from home in the Premier League, so there could be a vulnerability at the back to target.

However, they showed against Manchester United that they can hold their own and cause plenty of problems for opposition defenders.

Nuno Espirito Santo wasn’t happy with his own defence after the Arsenal loss, as he revealed all of the team will need to work on improving moving forward.

Interestingly, Kieran McKenna is already sharing his worry about one Nottingham Forest player in particular, as he spoke in his pre-match press conference.

Kieran McKenna says Ipswich need to stop Chris Wood

Chris Wood has been terrorising defences in the Premier League this season, so it comes as no surprise to see Kieran McKenna so worried.

Leon Osman even said that Wood is the best in the top flight right now, having scored eight goals in just 12 games up until this point.

Kieran McKenna singled Wood out as the man his Ipswich Town side have to stop if they are to get anything out of this weekend.

Speaking in his press conference, he said this.

“Chris Wood is a very good striker and a credit to him, it’s fantastic the way he’s built his career and progressed every year.

“And yeah they’ve got really fast wingers, really good 10s, technical midfielders and attacking full-backs. They’re really good at using him as a fulcrum of that and bringing other people into play, and helping the other ones play well as well.

“So he’s important for them and we need to stop him as well as what we can, and also stop his influence in terms of bringing people into the game.”

Liam Delap a worry for Nottingham Forest

Ipswich Town have their own tall and effective striker in the form of Liam Delap.

The 21-year-old has scored six goals and assisted one in the Premier League this season, using his pace and power to overpower defenders and create room for himself.

Interestingly, Nottingham Forest legend Garry Birtles has called for Nuno to sign Delap, but that doesn’t look likely with Manchester City holding a buy-back clause.

Any deal for the striker is likely to cost a fortune too.
