Wissa’s On Fire – in more ways than one.

Brentford host Leicester City on Saturday afternoon (match preview is here) in a game with every opportunity for The Bees to further showcase 2024/25’s impressive run of home form. As key to this run as anything has been the free scoring from of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoanne Wissa who sit third and fifth respectively in the Premier League top scorer’s table.

Wissa’s on fire

We all know Wissa’s on Fire. The form on pitch mixing with the celebrations off it at full time. Most supporters would, I am sure, also be aware of the Brentford related Greyhound syndicate.

Our own commentator par excellence Mark Burridge’s much documented love of our canine friends has spiralled to a place where his group have made a quite wonderful thing of naming their dogs after all things Bees related – ranging from Mr Brentford to Brentfordpenguin.

Yet did you know it’s not just the dogs that have a Brentford connection? We’ve also got a fair few horses too. Five, in fact.

Out in South Africa our club sponsor Hollywood Bets have their own syndicate, with Wissa’s namesake very much amongst those, err, on fire….

Wissa’s on fire

Noodling around the internet I’ve stumbled across a piece on their blog site (what’s a share between friends?), showcasing the Brentford connection and the current runners.

If horses are your thing then, as with the dogs, there’s now a wonderful chance to combine twin passions. You can read about it here.

With BusstopinHounslow next up out of their five ( in the 14.55 at Turffontein Standsideon, this Tuesday) I might even keep half an eye on just how he fares.

Brentford – And the Horses Named After the Historic Club

For those of you with more of an interest in the dogs then this there also this heart-warming piece out there – Brentford, Mark Burridge, Allan Cockram and his Penguins.

What isn’t there to love?
