Dan Bardell believes Unai Emery will continue to snub Jhon Duran and favour Ollie Watkins from the start for Aston Villa against Chelsea.
The Villans travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday (1 December) just days after a goalless draw in the Champions League against Juventus.
This could see the Villa manager utilise squad rotation to get the best out of his side throughout the busy festive period.
Despite this, Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that Emery will stick by the England international, such is his importance to the team.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I think over the Christmas period, it gets so hectic that everyone will be used.
“I don’t think Duran will start against Chelsea, I think Watkins is still too important to what Villa do. Duran doesn’t offer the off-the-ball stuff that Watkins does.

Ollie Watkins to get Aston Villa nod over Jhon Duran v Chelsea
The Colombia international is yet to really have a fair shot in the Premier League this season despite scoring just two less than his counterpart having not made a single start.
It doesn’t appear that the 20-year-old is going to be handed that opportunity in West London with Watkins set to be favoured.

There is no doubt that the ex-Brentford man is excellent but at some point, Emery surely has to rotate fairly with Duran, especially with a busy period coming up.
