Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli “headed to Manchester” to speak with both “City and United” about Douglas Luiz and Nicolo Fagioli during his time in England, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.
With Juve playing Aston Villa in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, Giuntoli took the opportunity to discuss potential transfer opportunities with the two Manchester teams.
Luiz only moved to Turin in the summer for €50m (£42m) but he has failed to convince with his performances so far and his club are already considering a potential sale.

Gazzetta report that the Brazilian international could be sold if Juventus receive a “satisfactory offer” or he may even be used in a swap deal, while Fagioli could cost around €20m (£17m) to €25m (£21m).
A potential Rodri replacement?
Reliable sources have confirmed that Pep Guardiola’s side are hoping to add numbers in midfield when the transfer window reopens in January.
With Rodri set to miss the rest of the season, the club have been linked with the likes of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Atalanta’s Ederson. Luiz could, though, be seen as an alternative.
The 26-year-old is a former City player and he has been linked with a return to the Etihad on and off over the last few years. Before Luiz joined Juventus, rivals Arsenal were his main suitors, having had several bids rejected by Aston Villa, but the Gunners are not expected to revive their interest now.
United may have an advantage over City in the battle for Luiz
As mentioned, Giuntoli would be keen on a part-exchange deal involving Luiz but the player he wants most is currently playing for Manchester United – Joshua Zirkzee.
Gazzetta describe that deal as “complicated”, though, probably because the Red Devils are reluctant to offload the Dutchman just six months after purchasing him from Bologna.
Whether City will be tempted by the opportunity to sign Luiz (or even Fagioli), we shall have to wait and see.
