Juventus are interested in Manchester United striker target Evan Ferguson.
The Red Devils are in desperate need for more firepower up front in spite of Rasmus Hojlund’s excellent brace and performance versus Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night.
They have been linked to numerous strikers including Randal Kolo Muani, Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen, but one player they have had interest in for a very long time is Brighton and Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson.
United are reportedly on red alert as the 20 year old is keen to leave the American Express Stadium.
The Irish striker has struggled for gametime this season and current boss Fabian Hurzeler has claimed that he must accept his current role in the side.
United may have to act fast though as reports from Italy suggest there may be another suitor for Ferguson.
Corriere dello Sport (via SportWitness) assert that “Juventus see the player as a valid target for January.”
“While he is liked by multiple Premier League clubs, the Old Lady have initiated contact to seek information about the striker’s situation at Brighton.”
Ferguson is said to be “highly appreciated” by Thiago Motta’s side and a winter move for the Irish international is said to be “appealing”.
United do have a trump card of their own though, as the Italian outlet suggests that the player Juventus really covet is currently employed by the Red Devils, Joshua Zirkzee.
“The Bianconeri are keeping tabs on the Dutchman’s situation at Manchester United with interest” but they know a move in the summer is much more likely to bear fruit than an assault in January.
If Ferguson’s desire to leave is so strong, Brighton may be more likely to support a move abroad rather than to strengthen a domestic rival, especially with the Seagulls flying high in second position in the league table.
