Liverpool are having an unbelievable season.
The Reds are top of the Premier League and top of the Champions League at this juncture, and things genuinely couldn’t be going much better for the Merseyside club.
However, there is one dark cloud hanging over Anfield right now.
Three key Liverpool players are out of contract at the end of the season, and many fans are worried about potential impending departures.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked to Real Madrid, while Mohamed Salah is still a Saudi target.
However, there is now some good news on the contract front as Virgil van Dijk is now likely to sign a new contract with Liverpool.

Virgil van Dijk’s new contract a matter of time
Liverpool talks with Virgil van Dijk have progressed in recent weeks and him putting pen to paper is considered a matter of time, sources have confirmed to TBR Football.
Liverpool’s hierarchy are working on resolving the future of Van Dijk, whilst also looking at new deals for Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold – who, like the Dutchman, are out-of-contract next summer.
Van Dijk, who turns 34 next year, made it clear that staying at Anfield was his preference, but TBR Football is told that he wanted to assess his and Liverpool’s situation under Arne Slot in the opening months of the new season.
Van Dijk has been hailed as ‘outstanding’ in recent times, and now talks are progressing.
TBR Football understands that financially there are no issues and the only real details that have needed ironing out was over the length and make up of any clauses.
Unlike with Salah and Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool are very confident that van Dijk will remain.
When could Van Dijk’s new contract be announced?
Van Dijk is set to sign a new deal in the near future, and an announcement could be due in the coming weeks.
Of course, clubs like to be very clever with the way they announce these types of things, and there is a perfect opportunity for Liverpool on the horizon.
The Reds could go with the very cliché ‘early Christmas present’ and announce Van Dijk’s new deal in a festive way at some point in December.
However, next month is also the anniversary of Van Dijk signing for Liverpool.
Indeed, seven years ago, Liverpool made the bombshell announcement of Van Dijk’s arrival days before the January transfer window opened.
Now, seven years on, Liverpool are about to secure the future of their captain, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they lined up the announcement of this contract extension to fall on the exact same day.
Liverpool are flying high in the Premier League right now, and there could be a bit more good news on the horizon.
