James Tarkowski has pointed to the fact that Everton managed to pick up points last season from the sides they face this month as an indication they can do it again. Tomorrow sees the Blues face Manchester United at Old Trafford for the start of a run of six fixtures in December that are being described in some quarters as daunting.

As well as United, the Everton face Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest at home, as well as Arsenal and Manchester City away. Sean Dyche’s side currently find themselves two points above the drop zone.

The Blues have also only managed to score three times in their last six league games, with their last victory coming against Ipswich Town last month. But Tarkowski believes there is no reason why his side can’t add to their points tally this month.

He said: “There are some very good teams in this league, but I go into every game in this league expecting to win, or at least compete, so that is what we will be looking to do.

“We have picked up points off them before, and I am confident we will do that again in this run of fixtures.

“We are going to play everyone twice, and it doesn't matter when you play them; you are still going to play them at some point.”

Before he added: “We are not playing anyone more than another team, so the games are coming no matter what, whoever you are playing against, so we just play whoever is next on the fixture list.

“So we go to Old Trafford, and the teams that we have got coming up, we have picked up points against them before.

“They are tough games, but you don’t get an easy game in this league where you are guaranteed three points. We look forward to them.”
