Midway through the first half of the La Liga contest between Barcelona and Las Palmas at the Montjuic Stadium, the hosts were dealt a major injury scare.
Key defender Alejandro Balde had to be stretchered off the field after he was involved in a nasty collision with Sandro Ramirez leading to a strong blow to his neck.
The left-back hit the ground immediately and had difficulty standing up or breathing while he was also retching, which led to him being withdrawn from the game.
Balde has recovered
The scenes caused a lot of concern, more so considering that Balde is an integral part of the team under Hansi Flick.
However, now, journalist Helena Condis of COPE has come forward with a positive update on the La Masia graduate.
As per the report, Balde did suffer a blow to his trachea during the collision, but he has now fully recovered from it.
Indeed, while there was some scare soon after him being stretchered off, the 22-year-old left-back has recovered completely and is doing fine.
This development will come as a huge relief for Barcelona, who have had a lot of injury problems to deal with this season.
More concrete updates should emerge after the game but for now, Balde is doing fine after the injury scare against Las Palmas.
