This season, a number of Chelsea players, including midfield sensation Moises Caicedo and fullback Malo Gusto have played at or near their peak. Blues fans at Stamford Bridge have witnessed some stormy times over the past two years. But now that Enzo Maresca is in the manager’s dugout, things appear much more promising.
This season, a few of Chelsea players have shifted into gear and begun to play some visually pleasing football. As a result the squad is now ranked third in the Premier League standings.
A 23-year-old center midfielder, Moises Caicedo does the job for his team in the middle of the pitch. According to Chelsea sources, Maresca actually believes Caicedo is “undroppable” at the moment. However, stats says the Ecuadorian isn’t the best for Chelsea so far.
Malo Gusto- the second most impactful Chelsea player so far this season
Five players who have had the biggest impact on Chelsea this season are listed by the CIES Football Observatory via X. Some of the best Blues performers are obviously included. But fans would be surprised to see Malo Gusto in second place. The adaptable defender is actually ranked higher than Caicedo, who came in third.
This doesn’t mean that Gusto has been more crucial to Chelsea than Caicedo during the 2024–2025 campaign. But according to the stats, Cole Palmer is the only player who has had a greater influence at Stamford Bridge in recent months than Malo Gusto.
To be fair, the Frenchman rarely disappoints the Blues on the football field. In all the 9 games that he has started so far this season, Gusto gave his best. With a passing accuracy of 87.3% and tackles winning accuracy of 68% Gusto has been all way around the pitch. Malo Gusto is on the verge of receivinga contract renewal from the Blues, which will include a significant pay rise on his current deal.
