Chelsea have just put up their weekly training video as we build up to this weekend’s game against Aston Villa, and there were a few really interesting thing we noticed.
The clip starts with an extended shooting competition. There’s not much you can watch to make yourself feel more inadequate compared to a pro footballer than this. Even the defenders are striking the ball perfectly – even Enzo Fernandez is firing screamers in, and we’ve all seen what he looks like shooting in game…

Nicolas Jackson does something very interesting after 80 seconds – he shoots superbly with the outside of the boot, getting a round of applause from the coaches and a cry of “what quality!” in Spanish from Enzo Maresca.
His goal against Leicester last weekend was an outside of the boot flick – is Jackson trying to make this his special move? Keep your eyes peeled in the next few weeks…

As the players miss they get sent inside – Marc Guiu hits a beauty, but he has to take an extra touch to set himself, which means elimination. We’re not sure how Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk end up out – they’re hitting it so cleanly.
Eventually even Cole Palmer has to jog inside after missing wide left. Jadon Sancho takes a bad touch and can’t get enough power in his effort, Noni Madueke sees his effort saved, then blasts the follow up miles over.
That leaves just one man standing – not who you’d expect. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. It’s not been an easy time for him since signing in the summer, so it must be nice for him to get to show off what he can do in training at least.
Let’s hope all this practice translates to some bangers tomorrow.
