‘Why wouldn’t you call that?’ – Barcelona star fumes over non-penalty call vs Las Palmas

Barcelona star Fermín López has made clear his frustration with the officiating in the club’s latest outing.

This comes after Barcelona were denied what could have proven a pivotal spot-kick late in their La Liga meeting with Las Palmas.

Hansi Flick’s troops were of course back in action a short time ago, locking horns with lowly Las Palmas in Catalunya’s capital.

When all was said and done, the Blaugrana were condemned to a shock defeat, owing to goals on the part of Sandro Ramírez and Fábio Silva.

The eventual result, however, did not come without its controversies.

As the full-time whistle drew close at Montjuïc, Pau Cubarsí went to ground in the Las Palmas penalty area.

Ensuing replays showcased the fact that the youngster had clearly been caught on the ankle, amid widespread calls for a spot-kick to be awarded.

The VAR team overseeing the clash, however, opted not to intervene, denying the hosts the opportunity to draw themselves level for the 2nd time.

And one individual who was left nothing short of perplexed by as much, as alluded to above, comes in the form of Fermín López.

Drawn on the penalty incident in the aftermath of the full-time whistle this afternoon, Barca midfielder Fermín López vented:

“It was a penalty on Cubarsí. He steps on him. I don’t know why you wouldn’t call that.”
