Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa found himself in a heated exchange with a fan during half-time of his team's match against Bournemouth at Molineux.

The home side were trailing 3-1 at the interval, with two penalties from Justin Kluivert and a goal from Milos Kerkez putting Bournemouth ahead. Jorgen Strand Larsen had managed to level the score for Gary O'Neil's team, but Sa conceded the second penalty, allowing Bournemouth to regain control of the game.

Sa mishandled a backpass, which was quickly seized upon by Cherries forward Evanilson. In an attempt to recover, Sa ended up kicking the striker on the back of the ankle, leading referee Peter Bankes to award a penalty after consulting VAR.

As the half-time whistle blew, boos echoed around Molineux, seemingly directed more at the officials than at Wolves. However, as the players left the pitch, Sa became embroiled in a dispute with a fan in the South Bank, a stand typically reserved for Wolves supporters.

Sa leapt into the stands and was seen shouting and gesturing animatedly as stewards tried to escort him away. Eventually, they managed to get him back onto the pitch, according to the Mirror.

Sa was brought out from the stands and could be seen having a word with a member of the Wolves coaching team, who checked to ensure he wasn't hurt. At the same time, the Premier League confirmed the rationale behind referee Bankes' revised penalty decision.

The league commented: "The referee's call of no penalty to Bournemouth for a challenge by Sa on Evanilson was checked by VAR, who deemed there was sufficient contact on Evanilson's left heel and recommended an on-field review. The referee overturned the original decision and awarded a penalty."

Bournemouth hit the ground running with a goal three minutes into the match when Toti Gomes clumsily fouled Evanilson following a long ball situation. Kluivert confidently converted the consequent penalty.

But it didn't take long for the home team to draw level merely two minutes later as Strand Larsen outjumped his defender to connect with Jean-Ricner Bellegarde's delivery, sending a superb header into the far corner.

Kerkez soon restored the advantage, making a run from his left-back position to fire the ball into the roof of the net. Kluivert found success with another penalty, putting the visitors firmly in front, and from then on, the match seemingly wound down.

However, with 20 minutes remaining, Wolves clawed their way back into the match when Goncalo Guedes surged forward and set up Strand Larsen, who bagged his second goal of the game with a deflected finish. Their hopes were short-lived though, as Sa conceded another penalty by fouling Evanilson once more, allowing Kluivert to score his hat-trick goal from the penalty spot.
