Injury update – €100 million-rated Real Madrid ace set to return vs Athletic Club next week

Real Madrid will take on Getafe tomorrow at the Santiago Bernabeu hoping to close down the gap to league leaders FC Barcelona to just one point.

Heading into the game, manager Carlo Ancelotti was greeted with a boost as Rodrygo Goes returned to the squad after recovering from his injury problems.

More good news on the horizon

Now, MARCA reports that Real Madrid are set for more good news on the injury front as midfield heavyweight Aurelien Tchouameni is the next in line to make his comeback.

Indeed, the Frenchman is expected to make his comeback for next Wednesday’s match against Athletic Club at San Mames.

The idea is for Tchouameni to rejoin the team on Monday, and if everything goes as planned, he will be included in the matchday squad to face the Basque side.

Tchouameni suffered an ankle injury earlier in November, during the UEFA Champions League defeat to AC Milan, following which it was reported that he would be out for a month.

Now, exactly a month later, the former AS Monaco man is expected to be back under Ancelotti’s orders.

The coach will welcome Tchouameni with open arms after losing Eduardo Camavinga to an injury earlier this week. With his return, Ancelotti regains a natural defensive midfielder, as well as another option at centre-back.

However, the impressive emergence of Raul Asencio gives the manager more flexibility, as he can now use Tchouameni in his natural position.

With Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo already back, and Tchouameni on the verge of a return, Ancelotti will hope to recover Camavinga and Vinicius Jr. next while patiently waiting for the return of David Alaba.
