Jack Harrison’s potential permanent transfer from Leeds United to Everton has been put on hold for the time being, according to The Athletic.

The Athletic reported on 29 November that with Everton’s takeover close to being completed, the Premier League side have plenty of big decisions to make before deciding on Harrison’s future.

Harrison has spent the last two seasons on loan at Goodison Park following United’s relegation in 2023, with current Everton manager Sean Dyche having been keen to buy the 28-year-old permanently.

Everton’s looming takeover by the Friedkin Group could prove to be good news for all parties where a deal for Harrison is concerned, potentially transforming the previously cash-strapped Toffees.

The prior collapse of Friedkin’s buyout put paid to Everton’s chances of signing Harrison permanently last summer, but with the American back on board, Leeds will be confident that a sale could still happen.

Should Daniel Farke bring United back to the Premier League this time around, the relegation loan clause utilised to sign Harrison for two summers on the bounce will immediately become obsolete.

If a Friedkin-led Everton decide against buying Harrison permanently, he’ll be in line to return to Thorp Arch, but despite being a Premier League regular, he’d likely be well down the Peacocks’ pecking order.

Wilfried Gnonto, Dan James, Largie Ramazani, Brenden Aaronson and potentially Manor Solomon would all tell Harrison to take his place in the queue, and that impressive squad depth suggests that regardless of what happens at Everton’s end, the winger’s time at Elland Road looks to be at its end.

In other Leeds news, United pipping several European heavyweights to one signing would be a massive statement of intent.
