Barcelona saw appeals for a penalty waved away in the [second half of Saturday’s La Liga defeat to Las Palmas](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2024/11/30/24308409/barcelona-las-palmas-la-liga-final-score-match-report-recap-reactions).
The Catalan giants felt they should have been awarded a spot-kick after Pau Cubarsi tangled with Mika Marmol.
Television cameras have now captured what referee Adrián Cordero Vega told the players on the pitch after deciding not to award a penalty.
“Nothing, nothing... But he’s looking at the ball!” Cordero Vega told both Cubarsí and Inigo Martínez. “He doesn’t see you, he doesn’t see you, he doesn’t see you...”
The replays showed that Cubarsi was ahad of Marmol but, according to Mundo Deportivo, that was not enough for VAR to intervene and deem it a penalty.
Fermin Lopez thought it should have been given but did admit his team had “no excuses for the defeat.”
“I didn’t see it, but I think they stepped on him. I don’t know the reasons why the penalty wasn’t called,” he added. “But in the end we didn’t play well, there are no excuses, we have to be self-critical and move on.”
