'It's utter madness': Gary Neville shocked by something pathetic he saw West Ham do vs Arsenal

West Ham United put in a woeful performance against Arsenal at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.

We got a lesson in how to play football from Arsenal, and the West Ham board will surely be seething right now.

Gary Neville was not impressed one little bit with the Hammers’ performance, especially inside the first 30 minutes of the game.

And something about our display actually baffled the Sky Sports pundit.

Julen Lopetegui is a man under real pressure after that shocking performance, and the Hammers absolutely have to beat Leicester City now.

The Foxes will represent a tough test, but nothing less than an improved performance will do.

Our big players need to stand up and be counted now. Lopetegui needs to sort out his tactics as well, and set us up in a more uniformed manner.

One decision he made today made absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Gary Neville shocked by awful West Ham tactic

The Hammers were actually lucky not to lose by more goals in the end.

It was a tough, tough watch at times.

Lopetegui will be furious with his players, but the majority of Hammers fans are disgusted with the Spaniard as well.

And Gary Neville was flabbergasted by something he witnessed at the London Stadium.

Neville ripped into Lopetegui’s tactics, when speaking on Sky Sports (November 30th, 5:53 pm).

He was shocked when Lukasz Fabianski and our back four persisted in trying to play it out from the back against Arsenal.

‘It’s just utter madness. When you’re 3-0 down against Arsenal just hit it long into Antonio. They can’t get out. I just don’t understand it.”

Neville is right. There is a time and place to play out from the back, and when you’re losing heavily to Arsenal are home, that is not the time.

Lopetegui is utterly clueless as far as I’m concerned.

His tactics were well off the mark today, and his players gave the Gunners far too much respect from the first whistle.

To play out from the back against a press as aggressive and well-organised as Arsenal’s was a kamikaze move.

Gary Neville couldn’t believe what he was watching during the West Ham vs Arsenal clash, and Lopetegui has some seriously difficult questions to answer now.
