Newcastle United may have to sell players in the January transfer window.
Indeed, Newcastle still reportedly need to balance the books on the PSR front if they are to spend again by the time the New Year sales open.
Luckily, however, it does not necessarily mean the club need to sell their prized assets. Craig Hope, after all, has previously said that a major departure is not needed at this stage.
With that in mind, it’ll be fascinating to see who leaves, if anyone at all.
Miguel Almiron has long been linked with a move away from St James’ Park, while the same can be said of Kieran Trippier.
While its hard to imagine Eddie Howe wanting to lose anyone halfway through the campaign, perhaps it’s a necessary step to finally try and strengthen his squad.
In fact, one player who hasn’t actually appeared for the club in months is said to be of interest to another Premier League side.
Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles linked with shock transfer move
Newcastle club captain Jamaal Lascelles, hailed as “unbelievable” by Dan Burn following his performances last season, hasn’t played for the club since suffering a serious injury in March.

The defender is out of contract this summer and, according to The Chronicle, is of interest to Wolves.
Lascelles is said to be closing in on a return to action by the time January rolls around and his future reportedly remains unclear.

Why Jamaal Lascelles may never play for Newcastle again
Lascelles deserves respect for being part of Newcastle’s journey from the Championship to the Champions League.
Thought to be very popular behind the scenes, the former Nottingham Forest youngster has been a major part of that process and enjoyed a fine night as Newcastle smashed Paris Saint-Germain in Europe’s top club competition last season.

Dan Burn 32 Summer 2026
Fabian Schar 32 Summer 2025 (reportedly in talks)
Emil Krafth 30 Summer 2025 (reportedly in talks)
Jamaal Lascelles 31 Summer 2025
Newcastle’s defensive options
Still, out of contract in the summer and coming off the back of a big injury, perhaps it would be wise to sell him while a transfer fee could still be banked.
With Sven Botman coming back into the fold and all of Burn, Lloyd Kelly, Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth competing for a central defensive berth, Howe does have options there.
If Wolves come in with an offer, it has to be considered.
